FWIW, I very recently upgraded a site from DNN 4.4.0 to 5.2.2, and upgraded the Catalook modules from 5.0.6 to 6.0.8 (currently the latest version.) Everything seems to be working properly, just make sure you back up your email templates before you upgrade if you've customized them at all.
