Is there an easy way to turn off the product comparison feature which was added at version 5.4.4? It seems to appear automatically when you are in list view in ItemPaneNF.  I would assume that when a new function like this is added there would be a means of configuring whether  it is enabled or not, either via the  options on the module itself, or via the general store settings, but if there is it isn't well documented and I can't find it! Or is the only way to do it by going into the skin files and disabling all the panels associated with this feature? Bump. Well that was an underwhelming response! I have now hacked the skin to remove all the TR and TDs associated with this feature but would still like to know if there is a better way of turning it off.
