But I thought I should just reply to SCI-91885 I have been using the Snowcovered Google sitemap, and it does work.
It lists each product as a seperate page. I am not sure how well its working as far as rankings are concerened, but it does appear to do what it said it would.

AJS, can you please tell us the name of the module you are using for creating the googlesitemap? (I mean the one you got from snowcovered) - A snowcovered link will be highly appreciated.
We made some small tweaks to dnn sitemap.aspx page itself to achieve the sitemap functionality (view at www.umaisa.com/sitemap.aspx which spawns all categories & products from catalook), but we are very much interested in the module by which you are creating google specific sitemap.
