Import doesn't like numbers
Any reason why product import from Excel doesn't accept all numbers as the ProductNumber? The only way to get "item code" to import is to add a letter in front of all the my sku numbers in the ProductNumber column.

Re: Import doesn't like numbers

Please check if the column is formatted as text. Then you can also use numeric values.

I tried text and other formats, but the numbers do not import. The products import with a blank product number. I worked around it by adding a letter in front of each number using an excel function, but my client is disapproving of me changing their SKU's lol.

Re: Import doesn't like numbers
There is no problem with numeric numbers in this fields. Also in the demo import files (catimportitems) this field is numeric. Please check if you have installed the latest MDAC version.

JRe: Import doesn't like numbers

Just wanted to add here, that if the file only contains numbers then the numbers will go in. But if the file does contain both product numbers in the number format 1234 and text format FW-1234 then then number format will not be installed.

This needs to be fixed a.s.a.p

Re: JRe: Import doesn't like numbers
Hi,

this is described in the manual and also how to prevent this:
Typical Excel Uploading Problems:
The first row of a column must contain data which is representative of what the rest of the data in the
column will contain (same datatype). To fix this, make a Dummy Product and keep it as the first item
in the sheet. Set a representative value for each cell and set the Archive cell to "True" so it will not
show up on the site.

So if you have 'FW-1234' in you first data row for product numbers it works, if you start with '1234' not.
On the other hand you can use the webservice to import your products.

Regards, Stefan.
